On Monday, May 20, 2024 (31/2/1403 in the Persian calendar), coinciding with the commemoration of the martyrdom of the honorable President Dr. Raisi and his companions, and simultaneously with the birth anniversary of Imam Reza (PBUH), an appreciation ceremony for the benefactors of the Primary Immunodeficiency Patients Advocacy Association was held at Omid Hall, Children’s Medical Center.
The ceremony was attended by a group of benefactors, colleagues from the Children’s Medical Center, and the Immunology, Asthma, and Allergy Research Institute (IAARI). The event began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, the national anthem of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the special Salawat of Imam Reza (PBUH).
At the beginning of the ceremony, Dr. Moein, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Association, quoted a Hadith from the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH):
“He who wakes up in the morning without concern for the affairs of Muslims is not a Muslim.”
He emphasized the importance of charity and kindness to people as a duty of every Muslim and expressed gratitude to all benefactors and diligent officials in this field.
Following him, Dr. Pourpak, Director of the Immunology, Asthma, and Allergy Research Institute and a board member of the Association, spoke about the history of the charitable support provided by IAARI to primary immunodeficiency patients since 2006 (1385) until the formal establishment of the Association. She also appreciated all benefactors during this period, including pharmaceutical companies such as Pouyesh Darou and Darsa Darou, who have supported patients in obtaining medications.
Then, Ms. Salek, CEO of the Association, reviewed the performance and activities of the Association since its founding in 2018 (1397). She outlined the Association’s objectives and main areas of activity, including:
Organizational development,
Providing both financial and non-financial support to patients with primary immunodeficiency,
Engaging and motivating benefactors,
Addressing patients’ treatment issues through the Ministry of Health and the Food and Drug Administration,
Pursuing diagnostic and therapeutic problems via legal channels,
Participating in meetings and gatherings,
Education and public awareness,
Managing the Association’s daily affairs.
She noted that since its establishment, the Association has supported approximately 600 patients who currently benefit from its services.
Afterwards, Ms. Dr. Nourizadeh, the Association’s Treasurer, presented the financial report covering the period from 2018 (1397) to the present. She stated that a total of 27,011,158,968 Rials had been provided as direct financial assistance to patients since the Association’s inception.
During the ceremony, one of the primary immunodeficiency patients who had undergone a stem cell transplant with the support of the Association’s benefactors was present and expressed heartfelt gratitude for the assistance received. Additionally, throughout the program, video clips featuring patients thanking the benefactors were shown. The health condition of the patient attending the event, as well as the videos, deeply moved the benefactors and brought joy to all attendees.
Following this, several benefactors shared their opinions and suggestions regarding the improvement of the Association’s performance. The ceremony concluded with the presentation of commemorative plaques to the benefactors in appreciation of their generous support.
